The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) was awarded with Informatics Service Prize for PARDUS which is an operating system developed by local means. AFAD won an award in the “State Institutions Giving Support to Local Informatics Products” in the contest organized by the Turkish Informatics Association. The award winning project was the “PARDUS Immigration and Digital Transformation Journey”.
AFAD carries out its informatics activities in line with the “Technological Transformation” concept. AFAD also prioritizes developing and using local and open source products with local data produced by Turkish engineers in its National Technological Development journey. In line with this goal, AFAD updates its technological infrastructure and software according to PARDUS. Until now, 52 Provincial Directorates of AFAD started to use PARDUS. AFAD’s effort was awarded with Informatics Service Prize.
Product of 5 Years Work
AFAD started to use PARDUS in 2015 in all of its organizations. It updated its software according to PARDUS and started to use local and open source products rather than foreign products. AFAD used PARDUS for disaster management and also for continued with PARDUS immigration journey. AFAD which aimed at activating PARDUS in 81 provincial directorates until the end of 2020 had to postpone this project due to Covid-19 pandemic.
