An earthquake measuring 5.7 according to the Richter scale took place in the Karlıova district of the eastern province of Bingöl at 17:24 on 14.06.2020. 3 more earthquakes measuring higher than 4 according to Richter scale and 159 aftershocks took place in the region.
Another earthquake measuring 5.6 took place again in Karlıova district of Bingöl province on 15.06.2020 at 09.51. This earthquake caused tremors in neighboring Erzurum, Erzincan and Tunceli provinces. Till now, no casualties were obseerved during ongoing field search activities.
It is reported that there are partial damages in some houses in the Sevkar village of Adaklı district and Kaynarpınar village of Karlıova district. Meanwhile, search activities continues in the region.
Response and search activities continue in the earthquake region under the coordination of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
16 people who were affected by the earthquake were released from hospital while 11 others are still under treatment. Number of relief vehicles sent to the region increased to 104 and number of personnel working in the region rose to 841. As a part of relief activities, 6.500 hot meals were distributed in the region and number of mobile base stations were increased to 7 in order to give easy communication.
Relief organizations under the coordination of AFAD are sending aid to the region in order to offer all basic needs of the citizens varying from shelter to food. Minister of Interior Affairs Mr. Süleyman Soylu is directing relief and aid activities in Bingöl in cooperation with Head of AFAD Dr. Mehmet Güllüoğlu. Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Interior Affairs Mr. İsmail Çataklı is coordinating the activities at the AFAD Disaster and Emergency Management Center.
Field activities of related agencies and institutions continue
All related agencies and institutions are carrying out response and search activities in the region under the coordination of AFAD. A total of 841 personnel and 104 vehicles from to Ministry of Health teams, Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services teams, Gendarme, Fire Department, Municipality, Turkish Red Crescent, private sector agencies and other NGOs as well as 116 AFAD personnel are participating in the activities.
TL 500.000 urgent aid allocation sent to the region
Our ministry has sent TL 500.000 urgent aid allocation to the use of Bingöl Governor’s Office to meet the urgent needs of people of the region.
Shelter and nutrition needs of the people are secured
AFAD regional logistics support warehouses have sent beds, blankets, pillows, linens and kitchen sets to people who were affected by the earthquake. A total of 1.602 tents, 3.248 beds, 3.300 pillows and sheet sets and 2.052 kitchen sets were sent to the area. Moreover, the Turkish Red Crescent has sent hot meals to 6.500 people, 1.000 food baskets and 5.000 field kitchen sets to the area.
Psychological and social support to those who were affected due to the earthquake
In addition to basic needs such as shelter and nutrition needs of the people who were affected by the earthquake, relief teams are offering psychological and social support. 16 social workers, psychologists and sociologists from the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services are working in the field and are conducting face to face interviews with the people.
Damage assessment begins
The Ministry of Environment and Urbanization delegated 60 personnel in order to carry out damage assessment works in the region.
