Deputy Head of Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) Hamza Taşdelen stated that AFAD has sent 69 trucks of humanitarian aid to Ukraine till today.
“War in Ukraine: Regional and Humanitarian Consequences” Conference was held at the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye conference hall.
Communications Director Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Altun made the keynote speech of the conference and Taşdelen made a presentation in the first session.
Taşdelen noted that according to the data issued by the United Nations, 7.1 million people had to immigrate and 12 million people needed humanitarian aid due to the war in Ukraine.
Taşdelen stressed that 3 million children are in need of urgent humanitarian aid in the country and Turkish humanitarian aid teams have arrived in Romania within the first 48 hours of the war and delivered required materials from warehouses located in 81 cities of the country.
“Till now, we have sent 69 trucks of humanitarian aid to Ukraine and teams distributed them to those who are in need. In addition to food baskets distributed in Lviv, AFAD is offering hot meals to 10 thousand people every day in the city,” said Taşdelen.
Taşdelen pointed out that AFAD has founded a tent hospital in Ukraine in cooperation with the Ministry of Health adding that Türkiye will continue to be at their side as long as the war continues and hopes that the war will end soon.
