There was an explosion in the fireworks factory located in Hendek district of Sakarya province on July 3, 2020 at 11:15.
In addition to teams from provincial directorates of AFAD, Bursa AFAD, Düzce AFAD, İstanbul AFAD, 71 ambulances from the Ministry of Health, 11 UMKE teams, 2 helicopter ambulances as well as fire department and gendarme teams arrived in the region. Provincial directorates of Kocaeli and Bolu AFAD teams are on alert and ready to respond to the disaster in case of a need.
Fire department is fighting the fire that broke out after the explosion in the factory in which approximately 200 people were working. Moreover, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has sent 2 firefighting helicopters and 1 firefighting planes to the area. Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) teams made necessary measurements in the region and did not detect any adverse finding.
The Turkish Red Crescent has sent a food truck to the Hendek in order to quickly respond to nutrition needs.
Meanwhile, 3 mobile base stations were sent to the region in order to give uninterrupted communication services.
Psychosocial support teams also arrived in the region.
Developments are monitored closely.
