Cooperation between AFAD and EGM in Disasters Continues

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and the Turkish National Police (EGM) have signed a cooperation protocol on July 21, 2020 in order to support each other during disasters and especially when earthquakes occur.


Head of AFAD Dr. Mehmet Güllüoğlu, Turkish National Police Director General Mehmet Aktaş, Head of Special Operations Selami Türker, Head of Security Department Cüneyt Ünal and related department chiefs were present at the protocol signing ceremony.

The protocol singed to cooperate during disasters especially when earthquakes occur also includes cooperation in search and rescue operations and other similar activities.

Training programs that will provided as a part of this protocol will give the police force an opportunity to work in cooperation with the AFAD personnel during disasters and cases of emergency and also aim at quick and effective response to disasters and including special operations for search and rescue activities.

Within this context, 1628 personnel designated by the nSpecial Operations and Department of Security will receive professional search and rescue training and will increase the response capacity of our country.
