A curfew was declared in 31 cities of the country on 17.04.2020 as a part of the measures taken in order to combat the Covid 19 epidemic. The curfew ended on April 19 at 24:00 as it was earlier announced to the public.
A majority of the public adhered to the curfew declared at 30 metropolitan cities and Zonguldak. We would like to thank once more our people who stayed at home regarding this sensitive manner.
Meanwhile, pursuant to the related articles of the Public Health Law and the Turkish Penal Code, administrative personnel and judicial actions were taken against those who did not obey the curfew. Within this context, a total of 20 thousand 398 people who violated the curfew were fined with administrative or penal fines.
Workplaces such as groceries and markets etc. which were supposed to be closed after 21:00 were fined for remaining open during curfew hours according to the related articles of the Public Health Law and the Turkish Penal Code. People who did not obey the social distance rules during their shopping at legally opened stores as well as those who made shopping at the stores which were banned to be open after the curfew hours were also fined.
Moreover, police officers and gendarme teams will continue to control markets/supermarkets, market places, shopping centers and busy streets all over the country during the week. Our Ministry has issued the necessary directives to the offices of the governors and security units within this framework.
Our adamant fight against the Covid 19 epidemic continues. Within this context, entrance/exit to 31 cities, curfew for persons aged 65 and above or patients with chronic illnesses or people under the age of 20 (excluding exceptions) continues in addition with other measures.
We would like to remind that social distance rules and social isolation are the most important elements of our fight against Covid 19 and we request them not to leave their homes unless it is absolutely necessary.
We need the support of our people in order to overcome this epidemic. We will do this together.
